The Calcutta University Teachers’ Association (CUTA) has been a platform for teachers of all faculties of the University of Calcutta for the last five decades. CUTA is constituted by the permanent faculty members of the university.
Since its inception in the late 1960s, CUTA has been relentlessly fighting for the university’s academic and cultural betterment. The association has always realized the importance of the role the teaching community can play in safeguarding the interest of education not only of the university but of the society at large. The objectives of CUTA has always been to uplift the academic atmosphere of the university. It has been a vanguard to protect the autonomy and democratic functioning of the university and freedom of teachers. It strives to nurture healthy relations with the students and non-teaching staff of the university.
CUTA is governed by its Executive Council that is constituted bi-annually through election.
